The Space Barons has enjoyed several good reviews, most of which have focused on retelling or sharing juicy bits of the exciting storyline. The Space Barons opens with the harrowing story of Jeff Bezo’s team surviving a helicopter crash in West Texas as he scopes out land for his secretive rocket startup, Blue Origin. I can assure you, from years of personal failure, that getting information out of Blue is the very hardest task in space journalism today. In fact, the primary complaint I have about The Space Barons is that Branson was left out of the subtitle, when his is the most engaging biography in the book. Spend your summer reading Davenport’s The Space Barons, extend the scope of your online space sources, and cherish good journalism.
