President Donald Trump’s appointed officials to implement United States immigration law are prime examples. He who gets the electoral college nod gets to the White House. While it is the electoral college that ultimately declares the White House occupant the popular vote remains the basis for the electoral college to make that decision. In 2016, 306 of the US electoral votes went to Trump, beating Clinton’s 232. By setting a low standard for its choice as president, America is paying such a high price.
