Her Royal Highness, 94, said news reports have provided “a lifeline for the elderly and vulnerable to the outside world”. The Queen, who spoke out at the start of Journalism Matters week, described media-led ­fundraising and volunteering drives as being ­“invaluable”. Chairman Henry Faure Walker said: “We have held power to account and robustly ­challenged the decision-makers.”The public are being asked to vote on their favourite media campaigns. And the push for “Helen’s Law”, which will make it harder for killers who refuse to reveal the location of victims’ bodies to win parole.
