The Public Theater held its annual Gala at the Delacorte Theater Monday night, a star-studded evening both onstage and off. The rain magically held off through cocktails and the entire performance of Hair To Hamilton, celebrating 50 years of revolutionary musicals from The Public. Sponsored by Bank of America and JL Green, and honoring LuEsther T. Mertz, the evening raised over $2.8 million, making it the most successful Gala in Public Theater history. Proceeds will make free Shakespeare in the Park available to 100,000 theater lovers this summer. "There is no place like The Public," Lithgow continued.
