The Prow website's milestone of hitting a decade shows the public's hunger for history is alive and well. Librarians from Nelson, Marlborough and Tasman Libraries established it in response to frequent requests they received from library users asking for references and resources on local history. Marlborough District Libraries manager Glenn Webster said the project started out with just 50 stories from the regions. "The Prow offers local history stories for people to enjoy and dip into, followed by detailed references and extensive resource lists if they want to dig further, many locals chipping in with their own accounts." Prow project manager Nicola Harwood said it was great seeing the site used by a range of groups, including students, local historians, local media and genealogists researching from overseas.
