Anybody who follows baseball even a little assumed the Houston Astros would come into 2018 with top-notch starting pitching. A strong rotation helped carry them to a championship last year, and they only improved since, benefiting from a full year of Justin Verlander and the acquisition of Gerrit Cole in a January trade. But nobody could have predicted this level of dominance. The Astros’ staff so far has performed so well that it threatens to rewrite record books, overpowering opposing lineups at a historic pace.
