Above all, auto makers crave stability, and of that Mr. Trump promises little. Exactly one vehicle generation later, the 2017 Detroit show is a perfect mirror of these regulatory changes. (Author’s note: At this point in my usual Detroit Auto Show reportage, I’d be raving about some Italian ice pick on four wheels with 1,000 horsepower and a golden gearbox.
