[Stafford Ondego, The Standard]The Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon is back after its cancellation in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Stanchart Marathon Local Organising Committee revealed on Wednesday the event is scheduled to take place in mid-July, 2021 at the Nairobi Arboretum. In 2019, the marathon attracted over 17,000 participants and raised over Sh30 million towards the community investment programme, FutureMakers, which provides youth in need with education, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Standard Chartered Bank CEO and Chairman of the Marathon Local Organising Committee Peter Gitau had a courtesy call with the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed (left) on Wednesday.
