Recent NHS data shows only roughly half of all adult eating disorder patients in need of hospitalisation are treated on specialist units. Over the past six years, children and adolescent eating disorder services have received an extra £50 million per year. Mr Radford says: 'They needed an extra £50 million for children and only one in six eating disorder patients are children. 'Eating disorder patients often don't think they're worthy of help, so won't reach out for it unless they're pushed.
