Not to be too presumptuous, but I’m guessing you may know that the NFL draft took place last evening. And you guessed it, as a follower of supply chains and how they’re managed, being a fan of the NFL’s seminal, annual supply chain event is among my favorite pass times. The “Kraljic model” as it is now referred to is still used by supply chain managers to segment spend from low priority commodites to the highly strategic. Interestingly, there are far more supply chain managers who seem to get it right. While both the draft and supply chains in general are increasingly data driven, the NFL draft still makes room for a lot of heuristics.
