The NAB offensive

Should we expect the accountability to be more thorough this time just because, as the Islamabad High Court put it, retired officers can no longer hide behind the army’s accountability process? Even now, it has yet to move on the more notorious land grab schemes involving senior military officials and their families. Simply turbo-charging NAB might not be the most suitable route out of its long-held – and well deserved – reputation of ineffectiveness and corruption. So far, therefore, NAB has not broken any fresh ground, only raised old questions once again.
