While technology has made it possible to stream any video and hail a car from almost anywhere, it still hasn’t been able to make the travel experience any less terrible. “People are watching everything else improve around them,” said Josh Giegel, co-founder and chief technology officer of Virgin Hyperloop One at The Wall Street Journal’s Future of Everything Festival Wednesday. But “it’s still painful to travel,” he said. Mr. Giegel spoke alongside Representative Elijah Haahr, speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, on a proposed hyperloop project, a route that would run alongside Interstate 70 and would allow passengers to travel from Kansas City, Mo. to St. Louis, a roughly 250-mile distance, in 30 minutes.
