The Port Cask expression pushes the boundaries of rum-making by finishing the rum in tawny port casks. Founded in 1703, Mount Gay has epitomized the art of creating, maturing and blending rich and flavorful rums for over three centuries. This was a throwback to the style of Mount Gay rum, when it was exclusively pot still distilled, in the 19th century. At Mount Gay, the protocol for column distilled rums is quite different from pot still distilled rums.
