Michael Andraychak says the 41-year-old officer usually works in the crime scene investigation unit, but was assigned to a patrol beat on a busy Halloween night for the department. The gun battle erupted in the city’s Castro neighbourhood, a popular gathering spot on Halloween night that has experienced violence in the past. ——7:35 a.m.San Francisco authorities say a police officer and an armed suspect were wounded after exchanging gunfire during Halloween celebrations. The San Francisco Chronicle reports both were hospitalized, but their conditions were not immediately known.
