The Latest: Flames temporarily relocating AHL team to Canada

The team announced Thursday that the Stockton Heat will play this season in Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome. The move leaves the Vancouver Canucks (Utica, New York) and Edmonton Oilers (Bakersfield, California) as the lone Canadian teams with American-based AHL affiliates this season. The teams were initially set to play in Atlanta in early January, but both games were postponed because of the coronavirus. The development comes a day after the Riveters were not allowed to play their game against the Buffalo Beauts. This provides teams a two-day break as there were no games scheduled for Friday.
