(Some might see Scorsese’s Marvel-bashing as excellent publicity generation by a veteran moviemaker; it’s funny how he never lumped his friend George Lucas’s “Star Wars” into the same “it’s not cinema” dustbin.) It’s a good film and it’s been on there for a month, but since Netflix has yet to crow about its numbers, which it does very selectively, there’s no way to know how well it did. Almost a month into the streaming flood and the clear winner is Baby Yoda. Baby Yoda is a perfect cross-generational character, combining cuteness, power and a new vein of Star Wars lore that fans can’t seem to get enough of right now. Comedy fans will likely be ducking into the latest standup special from Mike Birbiglia, simply titled “The New One,” which hits Netflix on Tuesday.
