We celebrate Irish women and their stories, from Katie Taylor pretending to be a boy to get her first chance in the boxing ring to Mary McAleese exclaiming ‘wow’ as Queen Elizabeth II began her speech in Irish at Dublin Castle for her historic State visit in 2011.Starting in 2000, we offer a year-by-year snapshot, documenting early successes, lifetime achievements and moments that have shaped lives and had far-reaching effects on Irish society.
