The Irish Independent’s view: Fuel-price protesters do not get a free pass to disrupt life of the nation


Thus the actions by protesters around Ireland must be called out and the law stringently enforced. No one can claim a right to disrupt the working lives of a nation. It is to be regretted that the Defence Forces had to be called on to help gardaí in dealing with the blockades. The State has committed to further help with the fuel spike, but its hand cannot be forced. Anger may be called on to draw attention to an issue, but only with reason can arguments be settled.
