The Impeachment Trial Begins Tuesday: What You Need To Know

Proceedings will begin properly at 1 p.m. EST on Tuesday, with the trial running from Mondays to Saturdays. Impeachment managers, who will act as prosecutors during the trial and argue for Trump’s removal, will present their case, while Trump’s lawyers will be expected to present their opening arguments after. This is only the third impeachment trial in U.S. history. Bill Clinton’s 1999 trial lasted five weeks, while Andrew Johnson’s trial in 1868, which ended in acquittal, lasted around three months. All 100 senators will act as jurors and will vote based on the arguments made in the trial.
