Nick Bagley, a health law professor at the University of Michigan:The program to block grant Medicaid has been given the Orwellian name of "Healthy Adult Opportunity," as if stopping people from getting insurance counts as an "opportunity." Kate Brown (D):In Oregon, we’re working hard to contain the growth of health care costs. We can’t allow President Trump and Republicans to keep sabotaging Americans’ health care. Beyond that, the administration may also need to justify to courts why a block grant would further the objectives of the Medicaid program. Many states will be nervous accepting a cap on federal spending under the Trump administration's new Medicaid block grant program.
