Doran was known as King Coke, The Professor and El Jock, and employed aliases like Gustavo Duran, Bernard Martin and Bernard Dunn. Married with five children, he then set up his own travel company in Glasgow in the late 1970s. Doran who was on bail however had fled to Spain in 1983 and set up home abroad to avoid extradition. In 1995, Doran and Togher were arrested in London after a customs swoop at Pevensey Bay, East Sussex. The former associate confirmed that Doran had made strong connections with organised crime factions while on the run in Spain.
