The Ghostwriter Next Door

Brad Jaffe, a therapist in Boca Raton, Fla., was having a frustrating time trying to return a defective and expensive office chair. After several emails to the retailer failed to resolve the situation, he enlisted his best friend , the director of customer service at an e-commerce company. “He would draft the emails, and I would send them from my email address, being very aggressive,” Mr. Jaffe, 30, said. “I ended up getting $500 back.”Ghostwriting was once primarily for celebrities, politicians and other public figures who needed paid, professional help with their books, articles and speeches. Arguments, congratulations, social-media posts, notes to the boss … why not cut, paste and get a second opinion before hitting that final “send” or “share”?
