Written around a large picture of a coffee pot on the chalkboard wall of Alice Delices, a French bakery on Rose Street in Fort Kochi, are warm words : ‘home is where the coffee is’. Home to Alice and Julien Floch, Alice Delices is a French style café that serves a variety of freshly made French breads and Wayanad coffee, in styles that are a curious mix of the French and the local. French impressions come from graffiti, made by a French artist whose ‘old fish man’ are large figures on the walls. Haunting instrumental music from the clarinet suffuses the senses, along with aroma of French loaf and coffee. Coir rope is used to bind large leafy French salad between fresh bread and served as a neat sandwich.
