The French-American Spat Continues With Macron’s Tech Tax And Trump’s 100% Cheese Tariffs


It follows a move by France to tax U.S. tech companies on French sales. U.S. President Donald Trump and France's President Emmanuel Macron on December 3, 2019. The U.S. government opened a review into the tax, which concluded this week, to see if France was flouting trade regulations. It also says the same tariffs should be imposed on other countries who propose a similar tech tax such as Italy, Austria and Turkey. Public comments on the tariffs will be held throughout December until a hearing takes place on January 7th, 2020.
