The iconic Egyptian-columned marble atrium in the lobby of 60 Wall Street may soon be a thing of the past. Although the building has been called a “post-modern gem” by the New York Landmarks Conservancy, only changes to the exterior require city review. The developer, Paramount Group, hopes that a renovation of the atrium lobby will attract a new tenant as the building is currently vacant. Some have suggested that the unique space could be used for immersive ’80s-themed events or as a filming location. One thing is for certain: the Egyptian-columned marble lobby at 60 Wall Street may soon be a thing of the past.
