Very little, he says, causes company owners as much heartburn as figuring out year-end bonuses. “Entrepreneurs typically agonize over how much to give,” says Foley. “Often it leads to the joy of thanking valued employees, maybe even personally handing out the checks. “A couple of projects go south late in the year and suddenly there are no bonuses,” he says.
