A press release from Kensington Palace on 20 July (the anniversary of the 1969 Moon landing) revealed that the second annual awards ceremony will take place in the US city in early December. Founded by Prince William and the Royal Foundation in 2020, the Earthshot Prize was in fact inspired by an American president, the late John F. Kennedy, named in tribute to his famous ‘Moonshot’ – Kennedy’s successful push to make America the first nation to land a man on the Moon and return them safely to Earth.
