President Obama promised in 2007 that his policies would “bankrupt the U.S. coal industry.” This was one promise that was kept. A study found the coal industry lost 50,000 jobs from 2008 to 2012. At a CNN town hall in Ohio in mid-March 2016 she said: "We're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business."
