NBA executives are reportedly baffled by the Sacramento Kings’ decision to trade DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans for rookie guard Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, and 2017 first and second-round picks. Cousins is one of the most productive hoopers on the planet, averaging 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Cousins trade is Exhibit A to the importance of an employee embracing, at least outwardly, the workplace value system of the employer. Without making a moral or legal judgement on the Kings' culture, it is now obvious that Cousins' brashness was counter-culture. Cousins may be right when he says the trade was unfair.
