At the time, Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen took me to task on Facebook saying that a new V8 was indeed on the way. However, before electrons take over completely, Cadillac is taking at least one more stab at creating a great V8 engine. Sometime in the first half of 2019, the CT6 will finally get the V8 engine many feel it should have had from its launch and it’s not yet another iteration of the classic small-block V8 architecture that debuted in 1955. At 4.2-liters, it’s the smallest displacement Cadillac V8 ever but at 550-hp, it’s also the most powerful production engine designed exclusively for Cadillac. Like most other premium turbocharged V8 engines of the past decade, GM has adopted a “Hot-V” layout.
