Ira Parker is as surprised as anyone that Four in the Morning ended up at the CBC. In the first episode, which debuted last Friday, this takes the form of a dream visit from a talking, psychic pig. The second episode features a run-in with “Day Kids”: two initially young children who age rapidly, going through their entire lifespan in one 24-hour period. “I want to work in something that will surprise people, that’s going to give them a reason to keep watching. This sideways view of young adult life is further proof that our national broadcaster is taking chances and exploring places it previously didn’t seem to know existed: exactly the kind of weird stuff that happens when you stay up late.
