Well, the Jays have taken the opposite stance by betting that a large group of starting pitchers with questionable upside will be enough to complement an otherwise well-rounded roster. The Jays were linked to Odorizzi right up until the moment he signed, but the fact that he ended up elsewhere wasn’t a surprise. Once it became clear Odorizzi had a chance at securing a longer commitment, the Jays became afterthoughts.
