The Blue Jays struck out on Francisco Lindor and Tomoyuki Sugano, but fans shouldn’t panic. Unless George Springer gets away, too
The biggest question that comes out of the Lindor trade is how it will impact free-agent centre-fielder George Springer. If adding Lindor and Carrasco means the Mets are less likely to table a significant offer to Springer, that’s good news for the Jays. The Jays must hope that adding Lindor will make the Mets less inclined to come forward with a comparable offer. Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading...Atkins often talks about “opportunities and alternatives.” The Jays rarely put all their eggs in one basket and instead try to create backup plan upon backup plan for almost every possible scenario. Thursday’s blockbuster trade wasn’t the big blow to the Blue Jays that many people made it out to be.
