The addition of hard throwing right-hander José Berríos did more than give the Blue Jays another reliable arm for the rotation. It also provided the post-season hopefuls with a group of top three starters that rivals just about anyone in baseball. That’s one of the causes for the Jays’ big three sitting a distant sixth in fWAR at 5.7. Analytics aside, the Jays revamped staff should be able to hang with anyone and this group loosely resembles the Jays rotation that went to the 2016 post-season. Without Berríos, the Jays staff was just OK. With him in the fold, it could become elite.
