Universal MusicThe Beatles today confirmed plans to release ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ in a 50th anniversary edition along with 34 new outtakes that for the first time show how their most famous album was created. It certainly breaks precedent – with the most commercially successful group long avoiding the addition of demos or out-takes as their individual albums are reissued. The Beatles’ album sales exceed 600 million worldwide. There have been extras released from the original Beatles sessions since the band broke up, most notably on the Anthology compilation series, which included some of the Pepper tracks.
