(John Kelly/The Washington Post)In recent weeks, I’ve used the phrase, “Since I became Dr. While Dan Tangherlini was in charge of Metro, he took me along on a tour of the Brentwood rail yard. I’ve gotten “Dear Dr. Gridlock” letters expressing outrage over my response on topics such as right turns on red, or whether a driver absolutely must move into an intersection when waiting to make a left turn. No matter how much I traveled, I could never duplicate what they saw following the same routes day after day and being sensitive to the changes.
