The warning is aimed at Thai tourists and those who plan to stay or work in South Korea. The embassy said that people who are caught smuggling cannabis and hemp into South Korea could face five years in jail and even life imprisonment. It said people caught planting or selling marijuana and hemp would face a jail term of at least one year, while being in possession of the plants or consuming them would get a punishment of five years in jail.
