Thailand finished their Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group 2 campaign in third place following a 3-0 play-off rout of Pakistan in Wellington, New Zealand, yesterday. New Zealand later booked their place in Group 1 following a 2-1 victory over the Philippines. Watsachol Sawatdee gave the Thais winning start in the third-place play-off, whipping Mahin Qureshi of Pakistan 6-3, 6-0. The official draw of the event yesterday pitted second-seeded world No.15 Petra Martic from Croatia against Chinese world No.133 Wang Xiyu. Former Wimbledon runner-up Eugenie Bouchard will face a qualifier in her first game, while Chinese world No.27 Wang Qiang will take on compatriot Han Xinyun.
