Over ten years ago, I had the privilege of serving as President of the Human Rights Council during a pivotal moment of institutional review. Human rights challenges today take many forms. What we are witnessing are industrial-scale scam networks that have evolved into a global human rights crisis. Human rights can only thrive where there is respect for the rule of law and accountable leadership – where people can pursue their livelihoods in an open and free society, and most importantly where there is full respect for human rights for all.
