Gross domestic product is forecast to expand 2.2% in 2025, the ministry said Tuesday (Jan 27), cutting its earlier estimate of 2.4%. The ministry maintained its 2026 forecast of a 2% expansion, which is faster than the Bank of Thailand’s 1.5% growth estimate. Merchandise exports this year will likely increase by 1% compared with the forecast 12.7% growth in 2025. Growth in private consumption will likely slow to 2.5% from a forecast of 3.3% in 2025, according to estimates from the ministry. The finance ministry said GDP growth in the fourth quarter was likely at 1.8% from a year ago.
