Thailand’s demography challenge

The fertility rate is now 1.5, the second lowest in South-East Asia. The latter accounts for around 40% of Thailand’s gross domestic product and is a main focus of the Thailand 4.0 plan. A shrinking working-age population reduces growth and lowers the state’s capacity to provide welfare to the dependent young and elderly. But this has not led to an increase in the fertility rate. The quota for each nationality Thailand, income disparity, demography, fertility rate, birth rate, unemployment, workforce to obtain permanent residency is limited to 100 per year.
