Thai flag at Board of Peace meet causes stirThe Thai national flag appeared behind delegates at the Board of Peace meeting in Washington, DC, because Thailand sent an observer to the gathering, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday. The clarification followed online questions after the Thai flag was displayed at the Board of Peace meeting hosted by US President Donald Trump on Thursday. According to the ministry, Thailand assigned Suriya Chindawongse, Thailand's Ambassador to Washington, to attend the meeting as an observer. Earlier, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the caretaker government cannot commit Thailand to the US-led peace initiative and would leave the decision entirely to the next administration. He said the government acknowledged the intention behind the proposal, but cannot bind a future government to any commitments.
