Prosecutors said Runnels killed Mr Wiley at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Clements Unit because he did not like working as a janitor at a factory which made shoes for prisoners. They said Runnels had wanted to transfer to a job at the prison barber shop and was angry at Mr Wiley because that had not happened. "There is true and authentic remorse for the death of Mr Wiley.
