FORT WORTH, Texas — Federal authorities have charged an 18-year-old Texas man with recruiting fighters on behalf of a Pakistan-based terrorist organization. The complaint alleges Sewell tried to recruit another person to join Lashkar-e-Taiba, the militant group behind a 2008 attack in India’s financial capital of Mumbai that killed 166. Authorities say Sewell put the person in contact with another person who he thought would facilitate overseas travel to join the terror group. It’s not clear when Sewell was taken into custody or whether he has an attorney to speak on his behalf. ——This story has been corrected to show the terror group is known as Lashkar-e-Taiba, not Lashkar-a-Taiba.
