A group of former cheerleaders for the Houston Texans are suing the football team over unpaid wages and what they call a “hostile and unfair” work environment. Five former cheerleaders involved in the suit appeared at a Friday press conference in Houston alongside famed women’s rights attorney Gloria Allred. For some of the work they did as cheerleaders, they allegedly weren’t compensated at all ― including for merchandise featuring their images. The suit alleges a threat of bodily injury made by Texans cheerleaders coach Alto Gary, according to Houston Public Media, a local outlet. “The Houston Texans should not have given us a uniform if they did not expect us to become an army,” Parish said.
