Tesla Model 3 Production Stuck In Neutral As Company Rolls Out $2,000 Price Cut

Robotics arms install front seats for a Tesla Model 3 at the Tesla factory in Fremont, California, on July 26, 2018. The Palo Alto, California-based company built a total of 86,555 vehicles in the final quarter of 2018, 8% more than in the third quarter that was Tesla’s previous production peak. That included 61,394 Model 3s and 25,161 Model S and X sedans and crossovers, Tesla said in a statement early Wednesday. “Starting today, we are reducing the price of Model S, Model X and Model 3 vehicles in the U.S. by $2,000,” Tesla said. Like the company’s goal of higher weekly production, it remains unclear when the car can be sold at that price.
