Yesterday, Tesla announced that the first of its Supercharger stations has been upgraded to Version 3, which is capable of a 250kW peak charge rate. In any case, no EV has that kind of range, so perhaps the most important detail is that Long Range Model 3 charging times will be reduced by 50 percent. In the "coming months" Tesla will offer a V3 Supercharging via an over-the-air update to "all owners. The Version 2 Superchargers will be able to offer Tesla EVs a new peak charge rate of 145kW for single-vehicle charging. The V3 stations use liquid-cooled cables as well as a new 1 MW power cabinet, which allows four Superchargers to each get 250 kW without any of the power-sharing tricks that other Supercharger stations have used.
