That’s the thing about self-serving, fact-averse “narratives.” If you’re not careful, they get out of hand and the next thing you know, innocently devout Muslims are being blamed every time ISIL or Hezbollah does something atrocious. If you don’t know how joyfully these outfits persecute gay people, it’s not just that you haven’t been paying attention. What’s worth noticing is that Trump’s harvest was already well seeded, tended and watered by a commonplace “narrative” of the left. It’s also not just possible to be insane and a jihadi terrorist at the same time — it’s more or less mandatory.
