The Ministry of the Interior announced the death of Hemdan Suleiman Salem, a leader with Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis terrorist group, in a shootout with police troops in Arish city, North Sinai. In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said security services were informed that Salem was involved in several terrorist crimes against police and armed forces. He planted bombs on sideroads to target troop vehicles in Arish. The troops were informed that Salem was going to his house. Salem started shooting in an attempt to run away and the ensuing exchange of fire caused his death.
