At this point in the game, this week’s three touchdowns — impeachment, Iowa and the State of the Union — tell the story. Today that same media is charged with sorting out the Democratic leadership contest in the wake of the Iowa caucus debacle. The latest Iowa caucus results posted Wednesday have Buttigieg holding a narrow lead (with 26.7 per cent) over Sanders (25.4). But it is hard to avoid the high probability that Biden has been significantly damaged by the Democrats’ impeachment push. With the Trump speech, a backfiring impeachment campaign, and an Iowa caucus fiasco, Nancy Pelosi could well have been symbolically ripping up the Democratic Party’s presidential dreams.
